Gardening Education and Vegetable Terraces Development at Levolosi School

At Levolosi School, students and teachers had a special day of learning outside the classroom. With the help of Diet4all, they learned new skills about gardening and worked together to expand the school’s vegetable terraces.

Learning About Gardening

The activity was both a lesson and a hands-on practice. Diet4all taught students and teachers why gardening is important for healthy eating and caring for the environment.

Everyone watched and joined in practical demonstrations. They learned how to prepare soil, plant vegetables, and take care of terraces so that the gardens can stay strong and productive.

Students Taking Responsibility

Students were reminded that the school garden is their responsibility. They were encouraged to take care of it every day so the vegetables can grow well.

The learning also reached beyond the school. Children were motivated to talk to their parents and encourage them to grow vegetables and fruits at home. This way, families can eat healthier food and improve nutrition at the community level.

About the School

Levolosi School is one of the biggest schools in the area, with 1,348 students in total:

  • Boys: 822
  • Girls: 526

This large number means the gardening activity touched many young lives.

What We Expect

The main results expected from this activity are:

  • More students helping to care for the school garden
  • Better knowledge among teachers and students about how gardens support good nutrition and sustainability
  • Families starting their own gardens at home, improving food security in the community

Looking Ahead

The vegetable terraces at Levolosi School are not just gardens—they are classrooms without walls. By planting and caring for vegetables, students are learning life skills, teamwork, and the value of healthy food.

With the support of Diet4all, these gardens will continue to grow, helping both the school and the community enjoy better health and stronger food systems.
