Jazila J. Kanon is a passionate leader driving change in the agriculture and youth sectors. She currently serves as a Food Systems Youth Leader, where she dedicates her efforts to uniting and empowering young people, ensuring their voices are heard in crucial national discussions. Jazila has played a key role in amplifying youth influence in the development and implementation of policies that impact food systems, ensuring that the next generation is actively involved in shaping the future of sustainable food practices.
In addition to her work as a youth leader, Jazila serves as a School-Based Projects Coordinator, focusing on food systems. In this role, she engages and educates young people to become knowledgeable nutrition advocates and ambassadors, fostering a deeper understanding of nutrition’s role in creating sustainable food systems.
As an entrepreneur and emerging agripreneur, Jazila is the founder of Asilia Villahandbags, a business that specializes in crafting unique handbags using African fabrics, particularly vitenge. Through this venture, she promotes African culture and fashion while empowering local artisans. Jazila’s Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Transport Finance has equipped her with strong financial skills, which she uses to support small-scale farmers by improving productivity and helping them overcome financial challenges.
Her dedication and commitment to her work have earned her several notable accolades, including Entrepreneur of the Year at the National Institute of Transport and Best Influencer and Public Speaking Student. These accomplishments highlight her ability to combine advocacy, entrepreneurship, and education to empower youth and strengthen food systems.
