Chiku Maliki Matendo is a 23-year-old youth leader, social innovator, and advocate for sustainable food systems from Dodoma, Tanzania. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Management at the College of Business Education (CBE), Chiku combines her academic knowledge with her passion for creating positive change in her community.

As the founder of the Dodoma Youth Power Group, Chiku demonstrates her commitment to sustainable agriculture through local chicken farming, which currently supports 40 chickens. This initiative not only contributes to household food security but also highlights her dedication to empowering youth through practical, community-based solutions.

Chiku’s passion for food systems is further reflected in her active participation in key training programs, including GAIN’s Food Systems Youth Leadership Training and Food Systems Training in Dodoma. These experiences have equipped her with skills in sustainable agriculture, leadership, and advocacy, enabling her to champion innovative practices that address food insecurity and promote resilience in her community.

With a strong focus on youth empowerment, leadership development, and sustainability, Chiku is committed to driving transformative change in Dodoma and beyond, ensuring that young people are at the forefront of building resilient and inclusive food systems.
